RIS-STOP-2SF-R (Overfill Prevention Valve)

RIS-STOP-2SF-R (OVERFILL PREVENTION VALVE)

A recent trip to inspect two of our OPV’s on an above ground oil storage installation revealed there are still some issues with the connecting pipe work. This particular installation was four years old and there had been zero maintenance done.

Connecting pipe work: it is important that connecting pipework is properly supported and does not ‘hang’ off the valve body. It’s also important that the flange faces fit snuggly against each other before the bolts are tightened up. Any pipe work misalignment will cause the precision machined aluminium body to distort, and inevitably the valve will seize.

Maintenance: I can’t stress enough the importance of regular maintenance! This particular installation was around four years old and there was zero maintenance! Although our valves are of a superior quality to most competitor valves and made to last, they will last a lot longer if they are routinely inspected and, if necessary, serviced. On this site, one of the valves was installed on a waste oil tank and was in desperate need of a service!!
